BIT.TRIP BEAT by Gaijin Games (2009)

“Sorry I am late, but I’ve found a nice one for you…”

BIT.TRIP BEAT wants to be a time machine. You get back in the 80s with classic arcade-style gameplay retro-inspired art style, 8bit and chiptune music. This game is real fun, challenges your hand-eye coordination and pattern-recognition skills to the exteme. The visuals are stunning and disturbing at the same time. This 4-player local co-op multiplayer music and rhythm-based game is made by the developers of the indie studio Gaijin Games and published on WiiWare. The gamplay is simple and the fun factor is higher than the number of pixel in the levels.
BIT.TRIP BEAT has three levels in which you’re encouraged to block “Beats” to increase the score. If you like chipmusic, this game will turn you into a real bleep junkie. As I said, “music plays a huge role in the experience, and every beat that you deflect contributes a note to the level’s chiptune song and each segment transition that you make adds another sound layer onto its ever-evolving soundtrack. Your successes and failures help orchestrate the tracks, which turns the game into a music producing time machine.”
